The exception here is the Swarm pack, which has its own macros set up to make the most of its unique behaviors. Consistent macro control arrangements across the Mojo Synthesis sound libraries where possible make it easy to assign the eight macro knobs to your MIDI controller and very quickly be able to interact with these libraries’ patches expressively without having to re-learn the basic control scheme over and over. The Sampletank 4 engine offers users a range of adjustment over how sounds are played back that helps to bridge the gap between humble samples and the feel of actually playing a synthesizer. Mojo Synthesis is a wide-ranging collection that, taken as a whole, offers hundreds of unique patches with a vast array of different styles of synthesizer sounds, captured in great detail from a wide array original hardware. The final new release covered here is the experimental collection Extraterrestrial Saxophone by producer Filippo Gaetani, with playing from saxophonist Severin Neubauer. Those include a five-part collection called Mojo Synthesis, which bundles the individual packs Alien Harbours, Circuit Damage, Ring of Doom, Swarm and Vector Vision, as well as a new percussion library called Bionic Drums and a new Syntronik 2 release called Synth-X (based on sounds from Erik’s own Elka Synthex). Now, IK Multimedia has announced eight new Sound Library releases for Sampletank, seven of which were created by very talented prog rock keyboardist and prolific sound and product designer Erik Norlander. IKM has worked closely with some legendary artists to capture examples of their instrument sounds and even in some instances their playing, including the likes of Terry Bozzio, Billy Cobham, Hugh Padgham, Alan Parsons, and the late, great Neil Peart. Adjacent releases like Sampletron and Syntronik (both now in their second versions) have expanded the core focus of Sampletank to offer, respectively, vintage sampling keyboard-sourced virtual instruments, and a wide collection of authentically captured classic synthesizer sounds, which can all be loaded into Sampletank 4 as well. They’ve continued to improve and iterate on the Sampletank formula as time has passed, and now Sampletank 4 offers a massive collection of sounds as well as sophisticated tools to map and manipulate samples in creatively useful ways. They released the original Sampletank virtual instrument all the way back in 2001, and indeed helped to establish the market for such products in the plugin era. IK Multimedia is no stranger to advanced sampling workstation products.
